Gift #49 Rub a Dub Dub, Let’s Live in a Tub!
November 2, 2009
Well, not exactly a tub. These are full fledge houses—with pontoon foundations being the most notable difference. Waterfront living at its best!
Ever since watching Sleepless in Seattle (Tom Hanks’ character lived on a floating home on Lake Union), we’ve romanticized about living in a home where seals, cormorants and blue herons lounge on the ocean side deck. Hey, it’s okay to dream right?
The Vancouver area has approximately 500 floating homes located at a number of marinas including—Sea Village at Granville Island, Coal Harbour Marina, and Canoe Pass in Ladner.
If you found today’s Guerrilla Gift, may all your dreams come true. If one of them is to live on the water, here’s hoping one of these beauties has your name on it someday.
BTW, Michael Blair has written a murder mystery that takes place at floating home #6 on Granville Island. Have a read here if you dare.

Hey I just found it near the boat houses, actually probably right where you left it at around 1:30 or 2 pm. Thanks a lot! The laundry machines in my building use loonies so I’m going to do some laundry!!
Hi Karen–You’re very welcome! We’re glad to help with the laundry
Which reminds us of the pile waiting for us to finish. Thanks for writing.
